    Oil wick on Bridgeport J head?

    I am rebuilding my 1HP 1966 J-Head on my BP mill. The cleaning and repainting have been completed and I have started to put it back together.

    My mill came with two head oil cups, both with wicks, one in the main casting and one in the bull gear cover.

    What I need to know is how long a section of wick do let hang out on the bottom of the bull gear cover oil cup. When I took it apart the wick was flush with the bottom of the cover but it could have just broken in the past life.

    The main cup in the main head casting is intact and I will just duplicate that.
