Hi George; S.kiser from TTI, Got a question; When I start up the bridgeport, with the heidenhain 426 pb controls, I switch machine on, and push {I} button, which enables machine, and I can home the axis, but after the machine warms up, and there is a shutdown, either power failure, or intentional, or even a crash, the {I} button will not function, and I cannot enable the machine, and it usually has to cool down some 24 hours or so before it will work, Any ideas? |

| Sounds thermal, so as the previous person said check all filters and fans. 2nd thought is a 24VDC power supply biting the dust. George

| As Kaibab said, check all the fans and filters. It could be thermal issue. But it could be a 24VDC power supply biting the dust, or a relay. Meter the enable string. See where the power goes and where it stops. I would also go through the entire machine with the tighten all terminal screw, tug and pull test to look for a loose wire. This should be done to all CNC at least once a year. Copper does expand and contract the temperature fluctuations. I have seen a loose ground cause the same issue. George

| I run into this all across US and Ca, Bridgeport fans seem pretty anemic when it comes to cooling the German electronics. I typically recomend to my clients to install an actual cooler (small A/C unit) to maintain temps. All of the other advice in this string is very good as well and you should follow it. Keep in mind the heat issue can cause other problems over time. What is the mean temp in the shop, is there a lot of dirt showing up in the filters? Good Luck |
