| Must be a BOSS 8 or 9. Axis drive enable dropped out because the control saw a fault. Need to access the FIST event monitor to see what the issue is. On a BOSS 9, that can be accessed through the front panel. On a BOSS 8, a PC is hooked up to the K3 connector of the FMDC. This procedure is in the maintenance manual. George

Friday I was able to get my machine to home and it appeared everything was working ok. Saturday when I powered it up. the Z axis would home then the X axis homed and as soon as the X axis stopped the drives dropped out. It isnt over traveling, just seems like when the Y Axis is supposed to move the drives drop out. Friday there wasn't a red light on the drive enable button but there is now. |

| I take it you did not go to the FIST event monitor which would tell you what is going on. Swap X and Y axis drive boards and see if when it fails changes. If no change, swap the motors. This may tell you where your problem is. George

I went to the fist event monitor about 5 lines down it says something about "NO X Marker Pulse". I tried hiting the home switch when the x axis is homing and get the same thing. It appears that the marker pulse should be sent shortly after the home switch is made. |

| The way a machine homes is by looking for the switch first (a very inaccurate device) which tells the control to look for the marker pulse (a very accurate device) which is on the motor encoder at the end of the motor. It occurs once per revolution of the motor. The specific axis homes. The FIST event log is telling you that it does not see this pulse on this axis. If you swap the motor (there is a mounting plate attached to the motor) with another axis, it will follow the defective encoder (unless by moving the military connector, you fixed a bad connection). | You need a encoder. It is that can on the end of the motor. There should be a label on the encoder. George
