Software for BP Interact 1 mkII

Ok guys,

I have finally installed my Interact 1 MkII and have it up and running after fixing the 24 volt supply and all is going manually..... seems to run really smooth and all axis's are working fine.

So now its time to head into CNC.

I Have just ordered a Serial Cable 25 to 9 pin, so it should be here shortly.

My Question is , what software and computer would be best for a CNC Newbie ?

I dont want to build anything to compex until I have a real understanding of CNC, but I have to start somewhere.

SO what Computer and operating system ?

What Cad software ?

What Cam software ?

anything else I need to get started....... bearing in mind all I have is the going Mill sitting there.

I am looking at the absolute easiest stuff to drive...... not real worried if its not as good as the top end stuff...... as soon as I learn it, I will move to that stuff for sure, but just an easy start would be good.

I think I asked a similar question ages ago, but I just would like to compile all the good info and a complete system to build here.....

Thanks for your help.

John

Also is it possible to run say windows XP and a usb to serial convertor ? or is that just to much hassle and I'm better of sticking with say windows 95 or 98 , on a older machine with a 9 pin serial port ?

I have run win 2000 with a regular serial port.

Heidenhain has free comm software on their website. quirky but works.

Try to make sure you have the comm setup working both ways on a serial port machine first, before trying usb[which I have not done]

yeah I think I will keep it simple first and just use a windows 95 machine and 9 pin serial port first........
I dont want to make it harder than it has to be first up.

buy the way, what is the software called....... I had a look and can't find anything relating to the TNC155 I have.
