    Bridgeport Controller

    Greetings:

I have a Bridgeport EZ-Track milling machine that I have been having problems with the controller. The first problem was I went to fire it up and get the message that the cmos battery is dead. So I source the proper part take it to a technician that dose board level repairs and have it replaced bring it back to the shop carefully put everything back together reload the parameters and restart the machine. It goes through it's start up the way it's supposed to and gets to the last thing which is to tell me to home the machine. When I push the button to do that I get the message "drives not on, failed to go home"

    Any thoughts?

I would examine the mother board for damage if the battery leaked.
I will assume that the CMOS is set correctly so the hard drive can be accessed and software loaded correctly. How about the fuses in the top left corner of the eletrical cabinet? Pull the BMDC and clean the edge connector with a soft eraser. Did you remove the ribbon cables on the AUXBOB and/or AXSBOB and/or the BMDC?

    George:

No evidence that the battery leaked. The battery is in a chip that also has some memory in it. Would it be possible that this chip needs to be purchased from Bridgeport so that it comes loaded with the information that it needs to start up? When I bought the chip I orderd one off the web.

    Thanks for you insight.
