On one side of CR1 and CR3 you should have voltage. If they are ON, the other side of the coil should show 0 volts with respect to ground. If they are OFF, the same voltage with respect to ground would be on both sides of the coil.
AUF interfaces with the BMDC which actually runs the machine. If the software does not load correctly into the BMDC, it will not work correctly and thus all bets are off everywhere in the machine.

George,
It took me a little while to understand about the relays but once I did it makes total sense.
Cr1 and CR3 are NOT on,my mistake in not knowing what I was doing as far as checking this.
This aspect of the machine is all new to me.
Am I checking correctly the I/O status?
I bring up the byte I want to watch and it may show high or low but should show change of state when asked to.
Where is a good place to get a decent price on the AUF board?
I was going to try to find a used one but this is probably impossible.
THANKS!

Easy, to see ow a I O works, find the JOG + and - switches and make sure they are in the box. Press them and see what happens.
Go yo EMI-INC.net for a AUF board.

I had time to work on my TC-22 this morning and I have it up and running.
After setting down and reading through the manual again I read a CAUTION paragraph that I must of been skipping over and it was about the settings on SW1 on the AUF board.
According to the manual they set the baud rate for communications and all switches are set to off for a single AUF board arrangement.
One of my switches was set to on.
This must of been bumped while changing the MB.
I don,t know how I did it but I am the only one who touched the machine.
I can know put the machine back together complete and give it a big kiss.
Thanks again to you George for all your help and patience.
I have learned alot throught this and other problems with my BP's from you.
You need a website where people can drop you a few bucks for your time.
THANK YOU

Actually the AUF has the ability to be daisy-chained for additional functions. The first is addressed with all the switches at 0. The next AUF would have the first switch turned on, and so forth. Thus you are correct that the switch does affect communication, specifically addressing. Good find! Explains why signals were coming back to the AUF but not seen by the control.
I have 2 in college so funds are tight but I do this for 2 reasons. 1 is Karma, I hope good comes around. Secondly because, I think all those with a Bridgeport got a raw deal when they went under. I do admit that I have standing invitations to cases of bear, wine, assorted other libation (no women however), in many countries and every state of the union. Need another lifetime to take advantage of that. But I appreciate the thought.

Worked today getting my TC22 back together.
I had to tidy things up from the MB swap.
I also had a monitor problem that I traced to the video cable so I pulled all the cables from the monitor back and pulled them back in with the new
video cable and now all is well again.

Cuts some parts on the TC today and it is running perfect again.
My Disk on Module should be here shortly and I would like to know how to go about getting DOS and the DX32 software loaded and the parameters set .
I have a disk that came with the mill that is labeled backup .
I also have a new set of DOS 6.22 disks,I have the DX32 software that is for a V2xt but am not sure if these will both work.
I am thinking I was told 6.2 is what was originaly used.
If I run the MAKE DISK file on the machine now how much machine specific info will be there?
I want to keep the original harddrive and put it away incase I ever have a problem later.
I don,t want to start on this untill I know what I am doing.

The DOM behaves like a hard drive. A mother board can seek it and put the correct settings in CMOS. Also EMI gives you the settings to put them in a mother board that will not seek it.
Original DOS was 6.20. EMI uses 6.22. There is a difference. example doing a backup with one version and a restore with another will not work.
Once hard drive/DOM CMOS is set, put in the first dos disk and reboot. Follow prompts for loading DOS.
The back up disk in the machine may or may not work. Reason is that Bridgeport had many versions of software, and some of them had parameter files that had to match the software.
In a nutshell, I would run the make disk.bat and label it for the version of software you are currently running.
Under the maintenance page there is a way to compare parameter files. I would label the older file you are comparing as BMDCPRMS.old.
So depending on what is on the back up disk, what is currently running, and what you have on hand, a clear answer is not easy.
