Need Help!- Y-measuring system defective (Bridgeport Series 2 Interact 4)

My Bridgeport keeps throwing up an alarm (Y-measuring system defective) Iv read a few forums and i gather it may be something to do with the volts! i have recently just purchased the machine, and when i turn it on it comes up this alarm, av checked for any faults on the electric board but cant see any!

Could someone help me in trying to solve this problem please?

Yes heidenhain TNC 155? Urgently need it fixed

You can download manuals from here.Chances are encoder or encoder cable.If it has glass scales give them a clean.

I clicked on the link you gave me, I was able to download the operating manual but not the service manual, do you know if there is a block on opening the page? It says webpage cannot be found................

It is most likely a bad encoder, bad wiring or some other encoder related problem.

at this age it is likely a bad light source in the encoder or wiring
