Hi everyone, 1990 Bridgeport 308.... When I command a tool change the Z comes down to the correct height but the spindle does not orientate and the servos turn off. An M19 orientates OK. The tool clamp / unclamp works but the magazine wont rotate or traverse. Can anyone please help. Where can I get bridgeport schematics or manuals? Thanks |

| There were two versions of the DISCOVERY 308. The younger ones had SIEMENS drives, a BMDC board and a newer type mother board. I do NOT believe the 1990 version is considered the newer type so it has a FMDC and a Mentor spindle drive. There are motors that turn the tool carousel and a cam for the in/out motion. When homing, I believe the tool carousel should also home. If not I would be checking that circuit first. Any error messages coming up? See if EBAY or machinemanuals.net has any manuals OF THE CORRECT generation for this machine. George

| My bad. I have no idea what is in your machine. Only worked on one INTERACT 308 many years ago and I have 27 years on Bridgeport machine service. No data either. Try EMI. George

| In a tool change operation everything is done by M codes with verification. So the initial condition must be verified that the machine is safe. This allows the tool change to begin. Next it goes to a tool change height. This position is verified. Then it orients. This is verified. The tool changer goes forward, verified, it allows the tool to be unclamped, verified, etc........ Where it stops is where the problem is, possibly with verification. George
