Bridgeport SX-15 SERIES 1 Need help setting up | | Hello. I am pretty new to CNCs with working on the inside of them but I am also an experanced computer tech. A customer of mine just got a used CNC from a university who said to him "it works but its really finicky" and we see why after opening up the case. We are hoping we can get some help on here on how to set it back up.
It is a Bridgeport SX-15 SERIES 1 and the internal computer has gone bad so the school used an external computer (some old gateway) and hooked the secondary serial port to the system (the one that goes to the internal boards not to the external serial port). They also left the motherboard inside the CNC so the power supply could be turned on using a switch they attached. I've disconnected the internal motherboard and added a paper clip to the powersupply so when the CNC is turned on the power supply turns on getting around using the switch on the motherboard.
The issue we have after doing this is that when we boot up the gateway and it gets to c:\Machine\ we run "run.bat" which begins to load the software. the software fails though with the error message that follows:
1;37;44m <-[2J<-[0;0 driver installation... <-[0;22HOK
1;0H<-[1;37;44m machine check... [1;16HFAILED]
2;0HExecutive load... [2;17HFAILED - error code -1]
that i am pretty sure is right. i'm coping it from a piece of paper and my hand writing is nearly as bad as a doctors.
also on the board to the far left on the side wall i get 3 lights on. the first green the third orange and the last green light. when I tried to do the run sequence it changed to the first green. third light. last orange and next to last green
#*#**##* (with the # being the ones on. sorry i'm not explaining this well)
also the center board had D3 blinking, D2 and D1 steady.
the bottom blue boards (3 of them) had all the red and green lights on.
hopefully this information is helpful for some one that could help us. we would prefer not to have to put out $5k for a whole new setup (what was quoted to us). If any one needs any more information just let me know and i'll be able to get it pretty easily. I also can take photos of the screen and the insides if needed. |
