I have gone through a few HDDs in this machine in 8-9 years, so I bought a DOM 512mb thinking it would indeed be better. The problem is, the M/B bios does not recognize the DOM, and I have tried a number of settings for primary IDE drive. My question is, "Is there something I am missing in the bios?" I can boot from a 6.22 dos disk OK. Can the bios be flashed to a newer version that will recognize the dom? A friend also suggested using a PCI sata card to drive a new HDD. This would be a last resort, but it does make sense that the bios on a drive card would negate the M/B bios. Any help would be appreciated. Dan I'm new here, but I'm a 60 year old toolmaker/machinist, as well as a home PC builder. LOL  |
