Bridgeport R2E3 Problems

I just got an old Bridgeport series 1 r2e3 milling machine with Boss 8 control and I am running into some problems getting the machine to work. I do not have the maintenance manual yet because I am on a budget. Does anyone know what the difference is between the the series 1 r2e3 and the series 2 r2e3? I have found the series 2 manuals for much cheaper. As far as the machine goes, when I turn on the power the display reads "error 2000" and I am unable to jog the machine or turn on the spindle, or anything else. I have made sure that none of the limits switches are activated, and I have checked the computer for loose or dirty connections. All of the fuses that I have seen were checked but still no luck. The thing that I am curious about is that the fans on the servo drivers are not running leading me to believe that they have no power. I have been told that you can plug another computer into the cable coming out of the electronics box to run a diagnostic check. If anyone knows where I can find the codes to allow my computer to talk to the machne that would be helpful. Any ideas/info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Tim (Tucson, AZ)

Error 2000 is a internal communications error. A fatal error.
(Error 2 in set 1 or 4.)
May be power supply, board, or wire/plug related.

Error 2000

I had 2 of these that had the 2000 error. In my case it was caused by dead batteries.

One other thing to check, though probably not it, is that the oil reservoir is not empty. That will cause the spindle not to start and give an error.
I don't remember what error though as I learned to check the oil reservoir every time I run it.

Regards,
Cutmore

Thanks for the help, it turned out to be a loose solder joint on the power supply for the FMDC board
