| If you would do a search I wrote an extensive response to this question already. But if you know the ERS part number it can be nailed down to even if it supports RS232, metric, etc. George

| Thanks George- Of all things, I've contacted the previous Company (who purchased the mill new,) and they are really interested in helping me. It's a BOSS 4, and they have a complete set of all manuals & service history. It was used to machine aluminum castings, and they used it up to last year, still running programs with the tape reader. I didn't expect everything to be functional on it, so now I'm thinking of using the original drives & steppers, instead of a servo retrofit. Seems like Mach 3 & interface the original drives is simplest way to go. Would a BTR or rs232 communication be a waste of time? The machine is so complete and original, I am a bit reluctant to start pulling parts off of it. I'll look up the ERS to see if rs232 is even a possibility. |
