After replaceing bushings on variable speed pulley, new belts, and a couple of bearings in the head I got the noise from the head to go away but now I have a grinding noise while spinning the spindle in neutral and a hard time shifting from low to high. Any suggestions ???

You should also spin up the motor with both the dog clutch and the backgear disengaged, and see if the noise is still there. Regards, Ray L.

Ray, Had to pull the top back off and found pinion that engaged the back gear was not seated all the way. Should have paid more attention while assembling first time, but I am glad it was something simple. Thanks for the help, Joe
