Hello to all, I need a belt to a Bridgeport series 1 cnc with 2hp motor, but I am in Sweden so it must either be shipped from the states or originate from U.S. Does anybody know where I can get one? Thanks, Joseph |

Hello, Up till today all my milling machines have been self built. Now I decided to try an Old Man. Some friends found out an used Bridgeport Series I CNC for me. Owner says its in working order ... Im not so sure about. I have not seen it with my own eyes jet, just photos, hopefully next week will do. Its under dust and lot of junk. But it locates not far from me, thats because Im beguiled. The price they asking is ca $5000 for. Good? I need some advices (or even warnings) - I hope its good machine but what kind of "syrprises" are most common when bought such kind of dusty condition? What are the places I need to check up especially carefully before final deal??? Every comment is welcomed. Please let me know all ... included addresses where to find helpful info about. I have no idea how these giant steppers work - seems I will rebuild it to servos. I have already bought 5 x VSD-E drivers and servo motors (3x300, 2x150) from Finnish guys: http://www.granitedevices.fi/index.php?q=products (what is your opinion about?) Thanks, Regards, Herbert

Too much money! Keep looking, you can find one cheaper, but might not be in your neighborhood. $1500-2000 for the classic iron. Your going to need to update that control, let the seller know that will cost you $5K plus.

My idea as it is was to buy old but good(!!!)iron and retrofit it. Those steppers and large boxes I will throw away anyway ... I like Servo system most of all. Is this Bridgeport on the pictures I added not good enough for building a exelent machine ??? Here any old and similar size uncnown iron costs not mach less in in my region ... perhaps only when totaly rusted broken and despoiled :-( *What are advantages of BP I mentioned ? *What are drawbacks and disadvantages?? with all respect, Herbert

Good canidate for a retro-fit, that machine is solid as hell, will probably huff chips vs. the J-head. Disadvantages? Probaby cost more to repair, ballscrews, belts, bearings ect. Would it be easier to retrofit? Maybe? Maybe not? My guess is it would be a little more expensive, but you'll have a sturdy machine.
