I don't think it's a lack of 'love' but that nobody has anything to help you. My guess is that you've got a very old, very fried board in that machine. Your only hopes at this point are to scour eBay for replacement parts or call a CNC repairman who is familiar with that machine.

If either of those fails, you're looking at a full CNC retrofit with something newer (assuming the rest of the machine is mechanically worth it).

re

send the control to heidenhain, they will evaluate it for a nominal amount, less than 200 bucks, and let you know what can be fixed. I have not seen those controls floating around so that is your best bet

Before you send anything to Heidenhain, determine if it is the control, axis drive or spindle drive you have fried.Where is the part you fried?
Heidenhain will only check the control and will not want to see drives.

I'm also not sure what you're asking or trying to do here. The machine should be programmable right from the front control panel. The only reason you should need a laptop is if you're using CAM software to do your programming or if you're writing the code in a text editor and wanting to upload it after the fact.

Do you have any of the manuals for this machine? It sounds like you need a programming and setup guide as well as a service manual. For something that old, eBay is going to be your friend. I just did a search for Heidenhain and found a ton of stuff--including a programming manual for that 2500 controller.

Programming and connection manuals can be downloaded free from Heidenhain.com

I did read your post and I have repaired a bunch of these machines but did not recognize the numbers you gave for the burnt board. I hoped that some one with one of these machines could try and match your numbers up.
It would be a help if you told us where this board was or identified it a bit more specifically by looking at a maintenance manual.

A number from a "little part" may be for just that, the little part.

Board p/n's are usually etched in copper someplace on the boards. Sometimes they are tags or paper/plastic stickers. IN other words, look on the board, not on the components thereof.

Based on my experience with older controls, luck is a bigger factor when it comes to finding used parts. You stumble across "finds" as opposed to having them drop into your lap. THe older the device, the harder/longer one often goes before luck turns up something.

See if there is a user group out there. Post a "need" and someone may have some surplus stash they're willing to sell from. After all, it is christmas and times are/getting hard and cash will help anyone in need of it.

Id surely hope that this is a hobby machine as opposed to a "need it daily" business piece. Old stuff is a bargain, until it fails, especially for guys who perhaps grew up with a legacy device and have a hard time parting with what they know. We came at it from a different tact, we were newbies and bought old stuff cuz it was cheap and functioning. Sadly it had been kluged up - little did we know - and this odyssey began with resurrecting some dead players.

Google "ineract repairs" or variations of thereof. YOu might stumble on a guy who's passion is fixing what you have. WE did that on our Fanuc's and found a guy who's done us well on legacy boards that Fanuc won't even touch anymore. To "service it" they sell you a total retrofit.

WHen dealing with legacy service, especially when it comes to critical board repair/replacement, you're in a position where "plug and play" are not part of the prevailing vocabulary.

We repair a lot of electronic boards for various cnc machines. I would have to see it before I would quote it. I charge a $85.00 eval fee. If you choose to let me fix it after I quote it then the $85.00 is waived, If you choose not to fix it then you would owe the $85.00 for the test bench time.

Keep in mind , it's very possible that you have another device that could caused the damage to this board.( servo motor, daughter board etc. )
