I've bought a bridgeport which has the 2J head and a dual voltage 1.5hp motor. I've now got an invertor to allow me to connect up and use 240 three phase. Question is where on the machine to I have to swap over the electrical links from star to delta, i've tried to access all elec boxes i can find but i can't seem to find this electrical connection? Also do i need to do the same with the x axis motor? Any advice appreciated. Thanks Jamie |

| In theory, unless you have a NFPA cabinet, the X power feed is plugged into the wall outlet (115 VAC). The spindle motor voltage is done by the configuration of 9 wires in the small electrical connection box on the side of the spindle motor. George

| George ah ok.. Is this the box you are referring to? All the wires are numbered and are as follows: Wires 1,2&3 come from motor and connect to other wires which go to switch box. All the other wires are grouped 7&4, 8&5, and 6&9. Can you advise on which cables I need to re-connect? Also the second pic is where the x axis motor cable enters the main elec box, it comes via the control box on the front of the machine. Will I need to alter anything of these wires? Many Thanks Jamie Last edited by JQ_Quint; 12-08-2008 at 11:09 AM. Reason: added photos |

| Ray, Thanks but i'm still not sure what I really need to do? Apologise if I sound a bit dumb, but electrical jargon not really my thing. Would you mind spelling it out exactly what I need to do.... Thanks J. |

| is connect the inverter to those three wires that leave the junction box in your first photo. I would *strongly* urge you to find someone local who understands this stuff, and can take a good look at what you've got, and what you're trying to accomplish, and tell you how to do it right. Making a mistake here can be expensive if you're lucky and hazardous to your health if you're not. Regards, Ray L. |
