Lead error?

Hi,
I have an EZ Trak DX that's having trouble with the Y axis. The screen reads different from actual table movement (about .010" in 3"). The error shows up when moving to a position manually or with servo power. Milling a circle will also produce an oval (X=3.000 , Y+3.010").
I then took the servo cables from the X axis and hooked them up to the Y servo motor and Y encoder. The screen then read perfect. The problem must be from the cables back - eliminating knee, ballscrew, servo, and encoder. Is there a parameter adjustment or some other type of lead error compensation?
Thanks for your help.

Yes.
At the main screen press the "*" key. A box should pop up on the left side of the CRT.
Type in "11235" and "ENTER" twice.
Correct the lead error parameter for the Y axis.
I have never seen a value greater than .0035 in backlash or lead error unless there was a problem.

Thanks,

I got there fine, but how do I save the changes? After making changes I press " + " and the following comes up:

WAIT -- SAVING PARAMS
Drive not ready reading A:
ERROR -- SYS.BEZ not opened
PARAMS SAVED

When I return and check, the params were not saved. Restarting machine didn't help either.

BTW the current settings are as follows:

Machine Series 1

X max travel 30
Y max travel 12

X offset -8638679.0
Y offset 0.0

X backlash .0013
Y backlash -.0007

X Lead Error .0004
Y Lead Error .0394

Thank you very much for your help.
Gary

I am not telling you anything new that the Y lead error is not correct.
I press enter until I get to the field I need, then I modify that field, press enter until I get back to the top , then press + to save.
The errors come up because the original software ran from a floppy, so it first tries to save to a floppy which it should not find. Then it should save to the hard drive, or whatever media utilized. There is the outside possibility that your file is corrupted.
The alternative is to go to DOS and edit the SYS.BEZ file.

George,
Got it! I was trying to save changes without returning to the top 1st. I ran the Y lead at 0.0 and it's now very close. Should be easy to dial it in now that I know how. Thousand thousand thanks!!! You guys are the greatest!
