Ok, we just recovered from a wiped out disk on chip. Replaced it with the newer Disk On Module. The machine is now runnable, however all diameters & depths from shoulder to shoulder are not correct with the programmed dimensions. This makes me think that the backlash, pitch error & other parameters may have been reset to zero. It is an EZ-Path SD. Can anyone provide a detailed procedure for checking/setting these parameters? Otherwise it looks like we will have to always compensate with the individual Tool Offsets. |

| If someone there is DOS literate, get to the C prompt, type in PFM, arrow down to tuner, press ENTER. See if there is pitch error and backlash comp in there. I do not remember any values there, but none of these machines are new anymore. You need a step gauge (or better) to set pitch error comp. George

| You can manually replicate the pitch error and comps in the parameter file - IF you can get them off the old disk or figure out what cum units are. These are the units spec'd by Bridgeport when they program them into the BMDC parameter file. IF all is lost, it is purely a matter of measuring the hysterisis and reprogramming them. Better yet, take the time to do some redoing of your iron to remove the slop that you're comping out. This is far more beneficial overall to to do than to comp yourself silly. Want proof? Try to cut a perfectly round circle with lots of comp. You'll end up with flats at all the direction change/reversal points. Fix the slop and need for comp is minimized or eliminated entirely.
