Hi I got a good deal on a THK linear rail assemly. I was thinking about adding a work table to the top of the THK rail and bolting the unit to the T slots in the Bridgeport tabletop. My thought was this would increase the working distance of my 20 capacity to about 48 inches. This would allow me to mill long edges. To control the milling I was thinking about adding a ballscrew and handle. With this in place at a latter date I could add CNC control to the unit. I`m new to using milling machines I was wondering if this is a useful modification to the 1966 BP. If it worked as intended as a manual system I`d add a second linear rail in parallel to add rigidity to the design. |
