Hi, I have a nice 83 model J head 1.5hp. I was wondering if there were any 3 axis CNC kits available somewhere. I would like to add ball screws as well. Or is it worth the trouble on this older machine? Much obliged |

| Prototrak makes a really good quality retrofit, I have an older MX3 system, 3 axis retrofitted J head, works very well. The older ones are limited on what they can do, but the newer ones are fantastic. Here's a link http://www.southwesternindustries.co...retrofit.shtml Scott |

| I have several customers using these kits. PM or e-mail me and I can provide contacts. Note that, although Centroid's web site presents it as if it is an all-Centroid factory product, what they are really describing is their control combined with Dwayne Elrod's hardware: see http://www.elrodmachine.com. It is a well-proven system, and makes for a very versatile machine. As a rule it is more expensive than buying an older CNC-ready machine (e.g. Boss) and retrofitting that with the same control. |
