Installing Spindle Assembly into Quill | | I am a hobbist that is new to the forum. I have a question regarding the spindle assembly on a Bridgeport with a 2J head. During the process of removing a stuck collet adapter, the spindle assembly dropped down about a inch and a half out of the quill. I am not sure how to move the spindle back into position. I thought I could make a longer draw bar with a plate on the bottom to pull it into position, but I am not sure if this is the correct thing to do. Does the spindle assembly bottom out in the head of the machine? Does anything need to be aligned as the spindle is installed?
I had taken the nose cap off to see if the tip of the collet aligning screw had broken off. It did not, so I tapped the collet out but did not notice that the spindle assembly was also moving. I sure wish I had reinstalled the nose cap before tapping out the collet!
I appreciate any help anyone can offer.
Thank you. |
