bridgeport mill head

hello
does anyone have a service manual for a bridgeport mill head? i need to know how to set the gear shift lever, i had the varispeed belt and the timing belt off and the main bull gear moves up and down on a spring but i am not sure where to set it when i clamp down the screws on the shifting lever. the machine seems to slip in low gear under power and the shift lever seemed to be in the wrong place when i started. when i put it back together it makes some noise now, anything i should be aware of when i put it back together. any help would be great thanks.
