I have an Interact MKII with the Heidenhain TNC 2500 control, what is the proper start up sequence, it seems that when I go to manual I get an axis drive error. Are operator manuals available for this thing? |

| How far will it go to pass over reference? The table moves slightly. I can then hit the button for manual operation, but if I move any levers or turn the handwheel I get an axis error. It will be whichever axis I am trying to move, like I am making a procedural error. I can go to each axis and home it out, I just don't seem to know how to jog. |

| Download the operators manual from here. http://filebase.heidenhain.de/doku/o...D4/N142D4.html Mark. |

I just tried it on ours to make sure of the procedure but ours is a TNC151 control so it might be a little older. I powered it down then back up. I hit the CE button then engaged the drives. When it said Pass over reference I hit cycle start. The Z went down about a half inch then back up to zero. X and Y both went all the way to home. I was then able to use the stick or the handwheel so maybe there is an actual problem with yours. Hope this helps. That manual will definitely help but the actual machine operators manual is probably more specific for that machine if you can find one. Kevin |

| All 3 axis are homed? Maybe the machine travel limits are set wrong. George

| Thanks for the help, my question is, how far should it travel to pass over reference? Is that one rotation of the ball screw to pick up a mark on the encoder or is it traveling to the switch at the end of the table. This machine moves about one turn of the screw, the Z does go up to the first switch. Thanks. |

| In answer to your question re the limit switches. The first limit tells the control to look for the marker pulse which will appear within one revolution. The second switch is the hard limit in case of overtravel. Mark. |
