newbie Heidenhain tnc feedrates | | I have a heidenhain tnc 151 programming in G-code with standard increments
in a linear interpolation if I put a feedrate of 200 what does that calculate to ? Looking at the manual I calculate that to be 20 inches a minute is this correct or does that even make sense?
I do have a few years of manual machining experience but I pretty much went off of feel so I need a little help with the feedrates.
I am facing off 1018 cold roll with a insert face mill 2" dia I believe it's 5 inserts I only need light cuts .020 .030 both sides to get where I need to be is a 200 feedrate ,1000 rpm and flood coolant sound right. The part looks good maybe a little glazed looking it sounds good cutting but I would like to do it the correct way I found feed and speed formulas for endmills in machinist handbook so that I can figure out to get a basepoint and go from there I just haven't seen much info for insert face mills (maybe I need a newer edition of machinist handbook) and I always used flycutters on manual machines which I never ran that fast on steel. |
