| Hello, I have a DX that the hard drive has died. The system went down and now all I get when I turn it on is "non system disc error" ![]() UPDATE I was able to re-format the disc in an old computer and load DOS onto it. Then I contacted a friend who also had an ez trak and he was able to send me a zip file of the software. I loaded it up and the machine is up and running. ![]() Here now is the trouble, I am running V3.06 (also have V3.08) and I was running a newer version that was in my opinion better (not sure what version though) The utillities allowed easy access to the a: drive and when circular intrepolating holes the machine did not return to the center before moving on.the only trouble with the newer version I didnt like was when running, if you hit / to zero the z readout, the program would stop and have to be re-loaded. If I am going to get updated software, where do I get it, and what version should I get, and why... ![]() ![]() this is an opinion questionaire Thanks a million Ed Last edited by ivangene; 04-08-2008 at 05:40 PM. |

| I believe that version 5 is very stable and not buggy and requires DOS 6.20. Version 6 is full of bugs but had engraving. Better to have a full size keyboard for that. You could also import DXF files but had to follow the rules. I believe that EMI-INC.net is selling a repaired version of this. Version 7 is beta (never released) had fixed a lot of version 6 bugs but had a big one. Do not shut down in metric! It would boot in inch with the machine parameters still in metric. Look into a solid state hard drive emulator next time otherwise referred to as a DOM (disk on a module). No moving parts and works just like a hard drive. George
