VMC1000 Drive Engagment Issue

We have a Bridgeport VMC1000/22 with the Boss DX/32 control. Was purchased new the end of '98, has low hours, very clean inside the control box. Having an issue with the drives not engaging. When you try to turn them on, we get a "CR1 Not Enabled" error. Not sure if the issue is computer or machine hardware related that is not allowing the relay to engage. The issue appeared upon powerup recently. Have all documentation and manuals but don't have a service manual for the machine or computer hardware.

The Input Module board has green LEDs lit for 1,7,8,9,25,and 26. The Output Module board has red LEDs lit for 1,9, and 10. Inside the computer control box, the circuit breaker board has 3 LEDs on top with resets. The front RED LED toward you as you look inside the box is on and the reset pin down, the back 2 seem to be in a trip position with no LEDs lit. On the next board over to the left, there are 3 LEDs. The top is "Blinking" Red and the next two down are "Steady On" and Green.

Does anybody have any info on diagnosing this problem or that can steer us in the right direction? Was trying to find a service manual but not sure which one to purchase if even available. I'm sure the DX/32 is used on other machines. Does EMI offer any type of diagnostic manuals?

Thanks for any help or direction you can provide!

Based upon what you have said, it is important that you know that this is a second generation control named the CIB for control in a box.
The is no step by step diagnostic manual. If you have the maintenance manual, it is very detailed in how all the boards work, drives (chapter 4), and how they interact.
The cr1 is not pulling in and thus not engaging the drives.
In the electrical schematics page 3 of 8 on the left hand side about 3/4 of the way down you will see the coil of CR1. Trace it back to see where the voltage stops to find your problem. Make sure you have 24VDC coming out of the 24 VDC power supply. It is low left in the electrical cabinet (I think).

Thanks for the reply. Will take a look and let you know what we find.

As far as a maintenance manual, would this have to be found on a place like Ebay?

Try machinemanuals.net but that is why I stressed that you understand that you have the CIB control. This so you get the correct manual.
Ebay has manuals on occasion. Again. you need the right one.
