WE HAVE A 2005? BRIDGEPORT HARDINGE VMC1000XP3 WITH A HEIDENHAIN 510 CONTROLLER. IT WILL DO A TOOL CHANGE WITH MDI BUT WON'T DO ONE IN AN IMPORTED FILE. IT BASICALLY IGNORES THE TOOL CHANGE AND WILL CUT WITH WHATEVER IS IN THE SPINDLE. IT DOES RECOGNIZE THE HEIGHT OF THE TOOL THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE SPINDLE.

Or the tool tabel/pocket table is not set up right

HERE IS THE KICKER. CAN MANUALLY DO A TOOL CHANGE IN ISO BUT NOT IN CONVERSATION USING MDI MODE. IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS A HEIDENHAIN VS. THE BRIDGEPORT PLC PROBLEM. MAYBE SOFTWARE UPDATE? I HAVE NEVER A PROBLEM LIKE THIS BEFORE ON OTHER MILLS.

The program has nothing to do with the machine not being able to a tool change in MDI in conversation but will work in ISO. By program do you mean the HeRos or the PLC?
