    electro-magnetic brake

can anyone advise on the spindle brake on my BP series 2.
I got the machine with the brake disassembled with the advice that it wasn't
working.a local electrical workshop tested it and found it to be working.
I put a meter to the 2 wires that connect to the brake and found a constant voltage with the spindle on and off surely this cant be. the brake is made by Matrix who I do machining for so I can get a new one but there's not much point if the old one is working. anyone had the same problem.

also having trouble uploading programs but not downloading.its not the PC software or the cable as they work with my 155 and 355.I'm sure the guy who was tring to fix the brake was messing with the parameters

    Brian,
it is normal for the brake to have voltage when the spindle is on.This voltage holds the brake off. When the spindle stops the power to the brake is cut off and the brake comes on.

Unhappy series 1 interact mrk2 brake

anyone actualy worked on a Bridgeport brake ? or am I in the wrong section.
even a hint about the best way to check the circuit or what could be causing the power to stay on after the spindle has stopped. maybe a faulty on/off brake switch on the front of the machine or is there a contactor for the brake
the brake itself is working, its the signal to it thats the problem.
any advice would be a great help
