    Bridgeport series 1 CNC mill

    Hello all,

Hope you can all understand my english.
I'm bart from holland and i've just bought a pretty nice bridgeport series 1 CNC mill and a hardinge HXL CNC lathe on an auction.
Now i would like to know if somebody here has the knowledge about how to conect the machines (especially the bridgeport mill) to a computer. Now they both have tape readers but i think that's not really of this time. If somebody can help me with this issue it would be really nice.

    Best regards,

    Bart

    Hey Gus,

    Thanks for your reply.
To be honest i don't have a clue wich control is on the mill. I've searched everywhere but i couldn't find a brandname of it. Do you have any idea where i can find it? There weren't any mauals with it so that's a bit of a problem too.

    Hello machinetek,

    Thanks for your reply.
Here's a picture of the machine.
What do you mean with the boards?

    Regards,
    Bart

So it is an old BOSS machine (4, 5, or 6) with stepping motors and open position loop (no encoders).
That is why I asked about the boards. The BOSS 6 has a NTP, ZDI, and ZCK boards.
The BOSS 4 and 5 have a RCK and XDI. The ERS board will tell you exactly which BOSS version you have by its part number. Another not as exact way to tell is with the LSI board. If it has 4 large IC it is a BOSS 4. If it has 5, it is a BOSS 5.

    Hello machinetek.

    Thanks for your information.
Do you know where i can find the ERS board and how I can recognize the Boss type in the number. Sorry i've got some problems understanding you but my english isn't very good.
Is the boss control one of the oldest controls in de series 1 or is it a newer one?

    Regards,
    Bart

In the side cabinet, remove the black air filter holder, then the gray screen and you will see a rack of slide in boards. What boards are there?

    Hi,

I've already found it. I've got a Boss 5 control in it.
A RCK, XDI and ERS board with 5 big IC's on the LSI board.

    Reagrds,
    Bart
