[continuation of previous thread] http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49249 I got the Z axis freed up by taking the cogged belt off the servo and tapping on the cogged pulley inside the head, then reinstalling the belt. I probably did not get the belt back on in the exact same position so that I'll need to make some adjustments to that. Then the Y gave me a code of MSG Y OVERFLOW. It appears that the home switch and the limit switch are too close together, and that a limit switch is gunky with oil/coolant because I was getting an alarm that asked me to jog it off the limits, but it was off the limit. Then I touched it and the alarm went away. I was able to enable axis drives and home the axes once. Then I got a code of ZAP the SAF (?) Also, the monitor is getting less blurry for some unknown reason. I'm kind of excited to be making progress with this. Apparently the noises I described yesterday were actually alarms coming from the servos. As always, input would be helpful. Luke |

| I’ve used water-soluble coolant for the past 8 years and it has taken its toll on our V2XT. The small rollers and micro switches in both axis have become sticky with dried coolant and periodically we’ll have to gently brush them clean with WD-40 so the machine will home itself without giving me those pesky alarms. I’ll be evacuating the coolant this weekend and cleaning the sump tank, pump and hoses in preparation for non-water based coolant this go around. Right beside our V2XT sits a 42 year old Bridgeport that is in pristine condition and has never had any water-based coolant touch it and it has stayed in this shape because it has spent it’s entire existence in a constant coating of oil. Be sure to keep the bottom 1/3 of your knee travel corrosion free and maintain a cleaning schedule to keep it free of sticky dried grime and coolant buildup towards the bottom of it’s travel as I have found out the hard way the knee gib breakage will bring production to a virtual stand still. |
