Hi, I have a 1984 series 2 R2E3. After looking at the ways I noticed the scrapings are thin in the center of the y travel and the x is the same. There is also a gouge in the y that has been there since I got the machine. The prior owner had aparrently not cleaned under the way covers often enough as when I got it there was a ton of chips under there. I am in New hampshire and am looking to see if anyone can recommend where to get the ways re-worked. What is the best way to measure the wear of the ways? Thanks, Cutmore |

Neatman, Thanks for the info. I will check to see if your friend can do that. I finally figured out why the backlash kept changing on me! I read about the Knee stick-slip on your mill. Did you read what I posted? I was wondering if your's did the same thing? Thanks, Cutmore |
