A "local" machinery surplus dealer has a Hardinge clone lathe on consignment. It is on a base and has a 5C lever collet closer, but no carriage or cross-slide or tailstock, just a lever-operated turret that is clamped to the bed that appears to be broken. No chucks or collets or any other tooling. The guy is asking $2700 for it. What is a reasonable price for something like this (not knowing whether the spindle motor and drive are good or not)? I'm interested in a Hardinge or clone headstock and bed on which to bulid a CNC X-Z mechanism (like an Accuslide) but this price seems way out of line for what the machine is. It's not even a real Hardinge... Best regards, Randy edit: Apparently this is a DSM-59 clone, from pictures I've found on the web. Last edited by zephyr9900; 11-09-2007 at 12:40 AM. |
