bridgeport series 1 boss 6

I bought this BridgePort about a year ago and with the help of hillbilly and his board and mach 3 software unlicensed version. I was able to get this BP up and running. It has taken some time to figure out the programing but now I am getting the hang of it and enjoy running the machine. But I am starting to have problems with the X & Y axis motors stopping in the program. The sreen digitals are continuing to move and read as they should . but there is no axis movement. What can I do to fix this problem. Thanks in advance Moses.

Hi,
What type of motors and drives are you using?

I have a similar setup with the Hilbilly board and series I mill, the only real issue i had was a software conflict that caused it to do similar things. I also added a charge pump to protect things when windows goes 'TU'

The software issue I had with mine was caused by a external CD rom package. I removed the drivers for it and many other unused programs and I have not had a problem with it hanging up since. You can remove lots of unused programs from your windows control panel, add or remove programs icon.
Either that or start from scratch again and format your hard drive and put fresh install of windows on. As said on Art's website & tutorials you don't want a lot of background programs running.

As far as the licenced or unlicenced it won't make a difference

Regards
Doug

Moses
The other thing that is notorious for going is the diodes for the axis, but they either work or they don't. There is lots of info in the forums about these diodes failing if you don't have the voltages' set right. This is particularly important if you use a phase converter as the line in voltages can vary more than a little.

Thats a scary thought because i do use a 10 HP roatery phase converter. Do you think a VFD would be a better choice?

i use a 30hp phase converter and it works fine .............now, i kept blowing diodes so i've somewhat de-tuned the mill. I've set up the x,y & z axis amperage to below 8 amps as measured at fuses 12,13,14

Moses,

How large is the CNC program? Unlicensed Mach3 has a limited number of program lines it will execute.
