Ethernet communication VMC 760xp problem | | My dad has two of these machines at his shop and asked me to set up the communication between them and his shop computer. He'd like to have them communicating via ethernet and that's where the problem lies. The machines are both Hardinge Bridgeport VMC 760xp3 mills running fanuc 18i-MB. I've managed to set the machines to read from their ethernet connections, and got ip's from them. I recently discovered that I need to connect the machines to the computer through a hub (which I'll do tomorrow). His shop computer is a p4 running xp, mastercam 9.1 sp2, and was communicating with cimco 4.32 via rs232 cables to other machines (very slow). He wants, not so much needs, to speed the transfer up.
My question is once I have everything hooked up, how do I send files to the mills? Will I have to teach him how to ftp, will cimco still work, or will the machines show up in the network neighborhood and it'll just be a matter of copy/paste? Also, what are the ip settings I will need to use?
Thanks in advance, and if you have any questions I'll try to answer them. |
