Hello folks, need some help with this one. I have a 1984 Series 1 Boss 8 that has this peculiar problem with it's motor drivers. During a regular contour cut, say a G1, G2 or G3, the machine will stop in its tracks and asked to be sent back home to register itself. I have not been able to find anything in the forum thus far. Looking forward to what you guys have to say... Nick |

| Very, Very annoying. Tighten every connection you can find. Unplug and plugin all connectors. This happened to me, rezeroing 10 times a day made me drink. Finally I monitored all DC voltages "while running programs" and found a sagging 5v supplied to the front panel. I could watch the voltage degrade to about +4.6v min. then the machine would shut down at the same voltage every time. I traced this to a faulty connector at the power supply in the wire duct behind the front panel. the supply checked consistent, but the drop across the connector was inconsistent even after cleaning. Replacing the connector fix that. |
