Hi guys, hows you all doing? I`ve hit yet another problem with my beavermill fitted with crusader 2 control. I need a z axis servo, but i`m having a problem locating one. The one that is fitted is a SEM type. The only thing I have found that is close is a Baldor type. Does anyone know if this can be made to rrun on my machine??? Any help will be most appreciated. I will try to put some pics of the old SEM and the Baldor unit. Thanks,Adee1066 |

| Ohi good gosh NO! I just saw one for $99 that didn't sell. Guy had two of them and the Y axis one sold, but the Z didn't. I found it with a (crusader, anilam) search. It should be relisted shortly. Heck I have a 72volt SEM from a Supermax and Bandit control. Hadn't decided I was going to sell, but $100 plus ship seems to be the going rate |

Hi guys, thanks for your replies. I will keep an eye on ebay,I did look there first, and did come across the 2 that were the same.I did ask about postage, but from the states to the uk was way out of my price range. The machine is as you all probably know is well old,and it is hit or miss whether it will ever run again. If anyone in the uk has one for sale, please let me know. Thanks again, adee. |

| Doesn't SEM originate in UK? You did not say what is wrong with the existing one, BTW. Often they can be overhauled unless something drastic happened. DC motors are usually the easiest to sub, try to match the electrical characteristics as close as possible. Al.

| SEM is still alive and well.As Al says ask for a quote. These are very common motors,I have a few for spares that I have picked up.You could ask Beaver Mike at www.machinesupportservices.com if he has a used one.Bridgeports used them also and he has a load of used parts. What`s actually wrong with it? Mark. On edit: That`s just a bog standard dc servo with external tach.Could be replaced by any other make with similar specs. That Baldor only seems to list max torque when stalled, working torque will be a lot less. |

| Hi guys, hows you all doing??? Sorry about the time away.i found the guy on ebay who is selling sem servos, but the postage is a fortune(I`m only a poorly paid turner,he he he). I believe sem is a uk based company, but as yet not got in touch. The motor I have is burnt out badly, the armature has gone black, and the windings have been burnt, and it stinks well bad. If anyone in the uk has one for sale at a reasonable price, please let me know. My e.mail address is adrian@classic64.freeserve.co.uk. Thanks in advance,adee1066. |
