Has anyone done (or can it be done), or can any one tell me how to, or where to send to.... I have a BP2 and it has that BT30 type quick connect, I would like to convert the spindle over to a R-8, I dont mind making(or having made), parts to make this happen. Is there a way to re-drill it so I can add a draw bar and R-8 tool spindle taper? Like I said, I dont mind sending the whole sha-bang off and having it Gun drilled and re-ground (with adapters if necessary), unless there is some other already R-8 spindle in existance for the BP2 that I could just swap out?? scott |

| I have lots of R-8 tooling, and have had no issues with them. Dont really want to invest any money in the quick change holders since I have none. so, thus the request, another option would be a way to convert it to cat40 since I have some of those holders.......... but at any rate, what is the spindle type called with the R-8 for the bridge port 2, is there a model of bridge port 2 I should be on the lookout for to get this type of taper. scott |

| Bridge port series 2 CNC (I think it was an old boss 6 control, but I bought the machine with out the controls available at all). it has that BT30 or Erikson quick change chuck, (the ears dont stick out the are recessed in on the tool holders for this type). Scott |

| Gus, thank you for your time, my question remains though, can I drill a hole through the shaft for a pull bar, and regrind or some how retrofit the chuck area for a R8, I dont mind making some parts if I have to. I really, really hate the quick change chuck and the holders are REAL hard to find. I am planning on adding a ATC, so I need a tool holder type and release mechanizm that would lend itself easier to this..... I wouldnt mind going to a CAT40, but again I would need a draw bar. Scott, I have a series2 CNC that uses the universal quickchange toolholders. Check this site to see what type of toolholder you have. http://www.tools-n-gizmos.com/specs/Tapers.html These guys have tons of tooling for all kinds of tapers. Hope this helps, P.S. I am the guy you sent the cncsaw screenset to. I have my z axis(the saw) Working. When I have time I will clean the saw up and send you some pictures. Thanks, Cutmore |

| Well, they did make the spindle with a thru hole for power draw bars, I have seen the machines advertised, but they are also 30 taper,IIRC. I have the 200 quik switch on 2 of mine, and I like them. Just occured to me, if the ones with the power draw bars had a thru hole, how many spindles did they make? Have you looked to see if there is a hole thru? |

I hear that the NMTB 30 tollholders will work if held with a power drawbar, however. Dennis |

| http://cgi.ebay.com/Bridgeport-CNC-I...QQcmdZViewItem There is no pic that shows the very top of the head, but it says power draw bar, just as an example |

| Gus, Dennis, Cut More, Gus: Yea, it is a quick change 200 tool holder with the ears sticking out. the pic you sent of the interact looks almost exactly like my CNC Series 2. I still really need some kind of spindle with a draw bar. Dennis: Ericson Quck Change QC30 is what I have/need but would prefer not to use. Cut More: Glad you like the CNC Saw control!! I will be adding a programmable Angle cut to it as well....eventually. Please, by all means I would LOVE to see your saw, with my screen running it!!! Scott |
