We have recently purchased a 1996 EZ Trak DX and are having some problems getting it started up.
Apparently the motherboard battery had failed which caused the bios to lose its settings. In reading other posts on CNCzone we have been able to work through that.
Currently the machine will boot up all the way to the EZ Trak screen but then immediately jumps to the EZ Trak Utility Menu. According to the manual this should only occur if F9 is pressed. We have tried both the built in keyboard and an auxillary keyboard to make sure the F9 was not stuck on the keyboard.
When selecting the utility menu choices view files on EZ Trak or view files on Floppy we get a message stating "Wrong Dos version". When selecting "ESC" to "Quit to Ez Trak" the control hangs up and will not respond.
Thanks for any assistance,
Claud
Did you tell it in CMOS not to do a keyboard test? The smaller keyboards do not pass. Does it default to NUMLOCK?
There still is the possibility that the battery leaked and took out some of the traces(deposited wiring of the motherboard) causing a failure of the keyboard. Very common to see.
You may still have corrupted software, still some CMOS issues, etc.
You may need to format, reload DOS and the machine software to the Hard drive.
