Be quite helpful to know what contoller you are trying to either load or dump from, and what software you are using at the other end of the link. Dependant on controller it may also depend on which machine it's fitted to and thus how it is configured.

Vague questions will result in vague answers whereas specific questions may get you useful answers

Sorry, no experience with either TNC145 or ez cam. With my TNC151b I initially had loads of problems as I failed to understand that it could exist in several 'modes' when intending to do a transfer. I found that using TNCremo from Heidenhain (free download) and the cable in their manual (also free download) eventually got me going. TNCRemo has a mode compatible with TNC145 so it may be worth your while trying it.

As per the response to your other thread on RS232 cables, this is the cable I use from my TNC151b to the 9 way on my PC:

(25way TNC) <9 way PC>
(2) - <2>
(3) - <3>
(4) - <8>
(5) - <7>
(6) - <4>
(7) - <5>
(20) - <6>
