Help with Bridgeport Series I with Textron controller?

Hello-

I am a noobie here and have been reading a lot of posts here today. A friend of mine who has a small shop has just received two Bridgeport Series I mills with the Textron logic unit. Both have ADR BTR's hooked into the Textron.

My friend is a great machinist using manual operations but has absoluely no computer knowledge whatsoever. I have been tasked with getting this things up and running. I have a lot of computer experience and am experienced in AutoCAD drafting while having no machining experience.

What would it take to get these machines up and running and ready to program? I learn very quickly but so far I am still in the dark on a lot of things. Any info on software, cables, computers, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

I am also in your same situation but forgive my green questions what is ADR BTR stand for ? Have you run single lines of code in the manual data input yet ?

Hello-

That is short for the Advanced Digital Research Behind the Tape Reader which replaces the paper reel tape system.

I will be trying the machine out on Tuesday when I go to my friend's shop.
