boss V ram spindle swap?

I have a boss 5 with a quick switch 200 splindle and just got a second boss mill but it has the erickson 30 quick switch, I would like to swap the erickson out for a QS 200 splindle.

I have a spare QS200 from a manual J head machine. but does the boss take the same spindle as the manual mill?

it looks like they use the same bearings, nut, etc but is the spline drive area the same?

Thanks
Duffy

I remember reading on this forum that each of the spindles were sized to fit the machine it was installed in. You may want to check the diameter / fit before you go too far. If the swap is going to lead to a sloppy spindle, you may want to reconsider.

The CNC machines had a longer spindle shaft to accommodate the Z axis ball screw and nut assembly.
Thus NO, the manual machine spindles will not fit the CNC and visa/versa.

Hi DD Machine

The answer by Machintek is correct the Boss spindle is longer then the manual one by at least 6"
