Gus thanks for your reply, the problem with the interface is nothing is happening at all.We have tried a few different combinations with parameter changes and read in read out positions on controll .The only thing im not sure of is,the cable i am using now was connected to a standard pc not a laptop.A friend lent me his adaptor of his cnc work centre that has a fanuc control, but im not sure if that is a problem or the program we are using could be the problem.

re

Sorry, but define 'nothing'

Is the control erroring, IE not ready error, is it sitting and waiting for the program?

The cable needs the rts/cts jumpers installed for the control end.

try downloading tncremote from heidenhain if you are unsure if it is ont ehcontrol or software or computer

sounds like your software, if it were a cable issue, I would expect a error on the control

Hi there Greg B

Did you get your system going in the end. If so, can you let me in on the secret please.
I have a Heidenhain 426 at work, which also will not talk to my PC. I do get some progress with LSV-2 config - it starts the file transfer, but onlys to about 206 bytes and then stops, without anything being loaded on the controller. FE mode does nothing. I'm using the TNCserver that is currently available on heidenhain web site. I'm not really sure that I'm doing the right operations on the controller though. I assume that from PGM MGT mode, you copy the file from RS232 to TNC: ???
