| I just bought an old Bridgeport J-head milling machine and I'm in the process of cleaning up / stripping and repainting the machine. However, I've ran into a snag. I want to remove the dial at the knee handle for polishing and I can't figure out how it comes off. It appears that the knee handle clutch needs to come off first but I don't see how to remove it. Does anyone here know the proper way to remove this part? |

| If memory serves me correct, the serrated handle drive just slips on and off under the dial/ nut assembly. It has a shoulder that fit into the dial It may be rusted or just gummy from years of use. I remember that if you unscrew the dial nut it will force the handle driver to start to move. There is just a key way that the driver drives off of to the shaft to move the knee. I don't remember a set screw on the driver.

| Thanks WMS! I tried using the dial nut to push the clutch out. Didn't work. However there may be enough room to use a wheel puller. Anyway, thanks for the input and the photo. Eatmoreanimals |
