BPT Series 1: any reason not to remove the table to the left? | | I need to remove the table from my Interact S1 Mk1. The manual says to undo the ball screw nut and remove the table to the right. However it looks like you could (additionally) remove the ball screw bracket from the table on the right, then remove the table to the left. This would save me having to move some heavy machinery around to make room.
Any reason not to do it that way?
There is a bunch of cautions about aligning the Y ball screw when things are disturbed, but no such things are mentioned on the X. Also it looks like the X table bracket mentioned is located by dowels.
This is all in order to clean the oil passages in the saddle to the X and Y ways, some of which appear to be plugged. Is there an easier way to do this? There seems to be four removable plugs into the drillings, two in front, two in back of the saddle. When I remove them and operate the oiler, I get oil from three, but not from the left rear one. The left rear ways, particularly on X seem to run dry. I am hoping with the table off to be able to access the tubes and metering blocks, and flush the crud out without having to remove the saddle - which looks more complicated to pull. |
