BP series 1 Unipolar, Bipolar , Microstepping Steppers

Some one here know that the stepper motors in BP 1 are being used whether as

1. Unipolar
or
2. Bipolar
or
3. Microstepping

if you are talking about an older BOSS series 1, i believe that they are running unipolar. .001 per step.

there are some threads around here about updating them to use Mach, i think that some people have had good luck just phase driving the original drives straight from mach, the original drives are just transistors (no step/dir).

I will be doing a BOSS upgrade by the end of summer, i am not sure if i am going to switch out the motor and drives imediately or if i am just going to try phase driving it for a while. depends on how much cash i can keep my wife from getting ahold of.

they are unipolar, boss 5 is .001 per step, boss 6 is .0005 per step
I am using the phase driving from mach currently and I love it.
