Guys, Has anybody seen a J head mill retrofitted with a NMTB 30 spindle. I have 2 Mills ( 1 manual and 1 cnc) with the NMTB30 spindle and I have a ton of toling and plan to get more. the parts from the variable speed heads may be interchangeable with the Boss mills. some of the other parts are. any thoughts ideas Thanks archie =) =) =) |

| The QC30 spindle was an option I have seen on many EZTRAK machines which of course uses a 2J head. So there should be no problem. George

| Thanks george. would that be a Quick switch 30 or a NMTB30 with a power drawbar like my R2E4 strait NMTB30 would be prefreable to me. shure would be nice to have all the tooling be the same. as my 2 other mills. I am looking around for a seriesII special with a Jhead (not the VS head) to run with a VFD. I only have single phase. and when I get the R2E4 retrofitted it will be running single phase as well archie =) =) =) |

| jeep534- I just sold one of these R8 to NMTB-30 adapters: http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNPDFF...1569&PMCTLG=00 This would be easier than replacing the spildle. It came with the tooling I bought for my NMTB-30 equipped V2XT Bridgeport. I don't have room for another machine, so I sold it. Also- I only have single phase at my house, but using a VFD is really the way to go. Great pricing on a new one here: For a 1 HP head: http://web5.automationdirect.com/adc...trol)/GS1-21P0 for a 2 HP Head: http://web5.automationdirect.com/adc...trol)/GS2-22P0 The wiring is simple, and mine works great. | holbieone- They are 3 phase full time. It is not a static or rotary converter, and it makes the 3 Phase motor variable speed. You will only have the rated HP of the motor at it's intended full speed. There are many many threads on this site that talk about VFD's. Just search for it, and you'll find nearly everything you need to know. NEATman |
