I just bought a used Bridgeport VMC 760 22 mill and it has a DX-32 controller on it. I am trying to get my CAM package to send a NCF file out to the mill, I have set up the COM port as follows 7 data bits even parity 2 stop bits no hand shake 4800 Baud rate I have also tried 2 different cables one is a a DB9 to DB 25 standard and the other cable is a DB 25 with 4 & 5 jumped and 6 & 8 & 20 jumpered together with this cable I got a response from the Machine but no file was sent. Any suggestions or advise is welcome and appreciated. Thank you |

| Bridgeport was married to EZCAM and to Featurecam. Data transfer was typically done by EZLINK and EZCOM. I carry an old DOS version of PROCOMM with which I communicate to Fanucs, Heidenhains and the Bridgeports. Most people use a sneaker network (carry a floppy to the machine) for programs less than 1.44 MB. Because of the memory of the BMDC you are limited to a program size of 256KB. Anything larger requires DNC. The machine can DNC from the floppy or hard drive. Most mold shops have found it best to transfer large files using a ethernet card and windows 3.11 for workgroups The old mother board, bridgeport software and DOS 6.20 will not tolerate anything else. | That is great it sounds like I have a few options, I think at this point I will use the floppy option just because we know it works and it will get me up and running so I can get a post going that works on my machine. My first question is do I need a copy of PROCOMM to make the floppy option work ? |

| The DOS version of Procomm is a piece of sharewhere software for RS232 communications. The DX-32 is a PC based control. Programs are .TXT files. Your PC does not need Procomm to use a floppy and neither will the machine. George

The Ez-Utilities will work when using the "remote load" but then again Virtual Gibbs does not support this protocol. I do not recall the other options for sending on the control but try the other methods when sending a file in the control back to Virtual Gibbs 1st. Your cable sounds right... If you need more help, call me when you are at the CNC control and I can maybe tell you what buttons to push. I just can not remember...
