Question to any body with interact 1mk2 brigeport

could some one tell me if it is common for the above machine to make a growling noise in the z axis only when feed is set at max it doesnt sound anything like the table feeds at max. We havent had this machine for long if i didnt know better it sounds like a noisy bearing in the drive motor or the pulley drive bearings. But i didnt want to pull it apart if i didnt have to because it is working fine .Not hearing one of these machines before i dont know how it should sound, thanks for any help.greg b.

It sounds to me as if the stepper is losing sync. ie the drive controller is sending step commands to the motor which it cannot keep up with. It is very important to use vactra #2 as a lubricant on these machines.

    Question Thanks motorman 46

Im not a 100% sure what you mean by the stepper motor being out of sinc parden my ignorance?but i am quite certain there is plenty of oil flow and the oil appears to be the correct type, speaking to the original owner he said that it always sounded like it does, but it just doesn't sound right are these things prone to bearing failure in the drive motor or on the ball screw support bearings it sounds like that is were the noise comes from.It doesnt seem to have any effect on the accuracy of the machine or any other problems.

Interact 1 Mk 2 doesn't use stepper motors - it has servos !
