    Does anyone know the VoltAmps rating of the T2 transformer from a BOSS 6. Thanks

    Hello Hood,
    Look on top of the transformer. I remember a plate being attached there with some facts about the transformer on it. Other wise I would look in the maintenance manual. Some have a list of parts with some generic data. I will see what I can look up as well.

    Thanks George
    There is nothing on the transformer apart from terminal numbers and also a number (ES922), also my manual just tells me its T2 and no other infomation apart from what voltages to expect. I removed this transformer from my mill when I retrofitted it and I am now embarking on doing a retrofit of a lathe and was kind of hoping that this transformer would be sufficient for it. The voltage is perfect but I am hoping the KVA will suffice.
    I really appreciate you taking the time to find the info.
    Thanks

    Does anyone have a wiring Diagram for the T2 transformer, My manual is a bad copy and I cant make out the numbers. I am thinking I am going to have to wire for 460V as I am geting 63V out and I need less than that, I am presuming its wired for 420 at the moment.
    Would really appreciate if you could post a scan or send to hood@rdengineering.wanadoo.co.uk

    Thanks

    My BOSS 5 says the total electrical power is 3KW. Then the spindle motor says 1.5KW. So this could mean the T2 transformer is rated for 1.5KW.

    Thanks for the reply, however I think really that the transformer may be well above what is needed for the bridgeport, its huge, much larger than I would expect for 1500W. It weighs about 45Kg (100lbs), I am a total novice however so may be totally wrong, usually am
    Do you have the wiring diagram for the T2 transformer, I got the manual with my mill in the form of a pdf from machinemanuals.net but the scan of drawing (1040222 sheet 2 of 7) is very poor and I cant make out the terminals for wiring 460V.
    I would really appreciate if you could scan it if you do indeed have it.
    Thanks

    I just went out to the BOSS 5 and looked at the name plate on the transformer. Here is what I found.

    3 Phase, 60 Hz
    Pri - 230/460V Delta 10/5A
    Sec - 60/70/80V 15A/Phase
    Insulation Class B, 80*C rise
    Spec # 021374
    Design # 16970001

    For 230V input:
    Primary:
    X1, Y1, Z1

    Jumper:
    X1-X3, Y1-Y3, Z1-Z3
    X2-X4, Y2-Y4, Z2-Z4
    X3-Z4, Y3-X4, Z3-Y4

    For 460V input:
    Primary:
    X1, Y1, Z1

    Jumper:
    X2-X3, Y2-Y3, Z2-Z3
    X1-Z4, Y1-X4, Z1-Y4

    While looking at the transformer, the windings from left to right are: Z, Y, X

    The secondary taps are:
    5 = 0V (common)
    6 = 60V
    7 = 70V
    10 = 80V

    Excellent, just what I am looking for, thanks, much appreciated.

    Eric
    Thanks for the info, appreciate the trouble you have gone to and although its a bit lighter than I thought and hoped for it should still work fine as the secondary is giving 15Amps per phase.
    Thanks guys.

    Just an update, I wired the transformer for 460V as per the drawing and I got 55V AC , rectified it and got 75VDC added capacitors and it is spot on 77V DC which is perfect.
    Thanks jderou and Eric, your help is much appreciated.
