Is this how the 2J Bridgeport works? Machintek?? | | Hey Guys,
Trying to figure how the motor Vari-speed pulley(moveable one) on my 2hp series 1 bridgeport head can go "up" the motor shaft.
The assembly is as follows; motor is mounted vertically, shaft pointing down. On this shaft next comes the stationary pulley locked into position by 1 setscrew. Next the adjustable pulley(variable pulley assy.) which is free to slide up/down on the motor shaft. This pully assy. is comprised of a one sided pulley with a good size boss on the lower side. Over the boss is a large spring which is compressed to half its length, and retained by a close fitting plate (somewhat hard). The plate is secured by 2 #10-32 socket head cap screws. Last is a retaining ring.
Is the Key the close fitting plate?? Does it wiggle, wriggle or squirm just enough that it wants to continuely move towards the fixed pulley ?
Yes LOA, Of course I filed out the close fitting hole in the wiggle plate. New pulley assy did not seem to fit, and even looked like it would scrape up the new motor shaft as it slid.
So please if anyone has the answer, Please let me know.
Thanks. And as always still learn N |
